Artist's Comments

I'm really not sure what's going on here. It's a neuter adult sunifee with a male child. The adult is clearly on guard, and the child is scared of something. Then again, I'd be scared too on a world where there are predators that can give even the sunifee trouble.

Anyway, this was just a sketch I did during my lunch break and work, and really ended up liking. You just don't see cute sunifee that much, so I had to finish it. These two are showing some of the more extreme coloring. The bright gold and red is usually tan and rust-brown, and the blue is usually more grey. Any variation on grey, brown, black and white are normal.

I'm not entirely happy with the background. It's not bad, but there's a lot that could be done. I'm just not sure how to do it. Many thanks (as usual) to =Konsumbrot for tips and techniques to get it this far.

Very nice color choices. They are a very cool race of creatures. I love their markings and stripes, as well as the poses. ^^

Nice work miss.
I think the background is al right as is, but perhaps you could try to give it perspective?
I see you've used some kind of grain-y texture and I know of an easy way to make the grains look larger on the foreground and smaller in the distance. Perhaps that'd do it.

These beings are called sunifee?
I'd like to know more about them and their civilization. :)

Hmm yeah perspective isn't so good here. Their deserts just aren't made of the right sand to get dunes. It's all so coarse and thick, it doesn't blow around much. I'm not sure how to apply perspective to flat land. I did try fading the grains in the distance, which I think does help some, and made the distance a little paler. I could have faded the horizon more to blend with the sky, and I'm keeping all this in mind for next time.

Lots more info about these guys and the other aliens in the archive or on my site. :)

I'm afraid I have reached my maximum reading capacity for today already. I'm sorry. I left myself a note so I WILL most definitely read the links in the (hopefully) near future. ^^;

I have just poked you about the perspective thingie. ^_^

Very interesting critters. There's nothing like having someone who's bigger'n stronger than you are to cling to when you're scared. :aww:

Yes indeed. In this case, especially a little boy. They're the littlest, scardiest ones :aww:
